The Irish Poker Open is one of the most eagerly anticipated live poker festivals on the calendar and has been since its creation by Terry Rogers in 1981. Now under the guidance of Paul O’Reilly and JP McCann, the Irish Poker Open is back to its brilliant best with the 2019 schedule brimming with tournaments, including a €1 million guaranteed Main Event.
Taking place from Apr. 15-22 at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin, the 2019 Irish Poker Open features 27 numbered events that have buy-ins ranging from €150 to €2,000 meaning there is an event for everyone.
While all of the scheduled events look set to attract poker players in droves, it is the €2,000 High Roller and €1,150 Main Event that will capture the imagination of the poker playing public the most.
The €2,000 High Roller is played on Apr. 16 on eight-handed tables. Players sit down with 30,000 chips and play to a 30-minute clock. Some 70 entrants too part in last year’s High Roller and it was Croatia’s Sasa Ikac who emerged victorious to get his hands on €38,330.
Once again, the Irish Poker Open Main Event boasts of a €1 million guaranteed prize pool for the same buy-in of €1,150. A massive crowd of 1,340 players took part in the 2018 edition of the Irish Poker Open Main Event, smashing the guarantee by €347,164. Ryan Mandara was the main beneficiary of this juicy prize pool as he was the last player standing and the recipient of a cool €210,000.
